On August 5, 2025, the tranquil valleys of Uttarkashi faced unimaginable devastation when a violent cloudburst unleashed flash floods and landslides across the region. In mere moments, roaring waters swept away entire villages, destroyed houses, shops, and bridges, and left families searching desperately for loved ones. Over 50 people are still missing and many more have lost their homes, livelihoods, and hope. The disaster has left deep scars on the entire community.
But humans are not the only victims. The animals of Uttarkashi—especially the rescued cows and calves at Krishna Dham Gaushala—have suffered too. With their shelters destroyed, fodder and water washed away, and medical supplies depleted, the animals face hunger, injuries, and disease.
