The Design Lover Some lamps start on a drawing board. This one started hanging from a silk thread. The Miniforms table lamp Rificolona was born in the E-ggs design studio, and that origin explains its playful, creative character. A large shade made mainly of recycled polyethylene sits on a wooden base, and when the light is on, the glow is reminiscent of the moon.
Where the Design Comes From
E-ggs created the Rificolona lamp hanging from a silk thread, which is why it feels so playful. The brand behind it, Miniforms, was founded in the late 1960s in the hamlet of Meolo, just north of Venice. It grew up in a region with a rich tradition of furniture-making, and it says its aim is to offer products that enhance daily life.
Materials and Light
The shade is mainly recycled polyethylene, and it interacts with the light, which is where that moon-like glow comes from. At 50 cm across, it's a big shade, so it does most of the visual work. The base is natural ash wood or black lacquered ash. With the Miniforms table lamp Rificolona, the light is a warm white, and the wood adds a natural touch to the room.
