Ondo West is set to embrace a new era of digital inclusiveness following the initiative of Hon. Olumbe Akinkugbe to develop a website for the local government; which is now ready and accessible here.
He was a sponsor and speaker at the 1st Ondo West local government business & investment summit 2025, and he saw the need to support the local government digitisation efforts.
Hon Olumbe is an ICT professional who once chaired the Ondo State Information Technology Agency, and is now the Executive Director of Digital Exploration & Technical Services at Galaxy Backbone LTD.
His experience in technology leadership and public service explains his vision that local governments must leverage technology to improve administration, transparency, communication, and service delivery.
The initiative was driven by the need to position Ondo West LGA as a digitally connected and accessible government institution.
Also, to enable people to have easier access to the local government services such as birth registration, death registration, wedding registry, hall booking, business permits, among others.
Early this year, he engaged a professional web developer, Emmanuel Oyeniyi (That Bokun Guy) to design and build a robust website tailored to the needs of the local government.
The platform was designed to showcase the Local government facilities, activities and programmes, initiatives, and others.
The website was received by Ekimogun Youths Connect (EYC), the foremost youth organisation in Ondo, and the Ondo West Youth leader, who will work hand in hand with the Ondo West Local Government Executive Council to ensure it's put to good use.
The official handover ceremony took place at Vista Perfecta Hotel with important stakeholders, tech and ICT experts in attendance.
The gathering featured discussions on the future of technology-driven governance, integration of tech into local government administration.
Also, the role of AI in government efficiency, digital solutions for better communication between government and citizens, and building a smarter and more responsive local government.
Finally, the expansion of the website features to meet emerging administrative needs.
The initiative marks a significant step towards digital transformation in Ondo West, reflecting growing efforts by stakeholders to promote technology inclusion and modern governance.
