The last ten days leading up to any major bank exams such as SBI PO, IBPS Clerk, or RBI Grade B are often the most stressful. After all those months of solving numerous questions and mock tests, it is only natural that stress levels rise during this period. Your actions, especially what you do and what you avoid during this time, can affect your final score. This article provides a complete guide on how to survive the last ten days leading up to your exam day.

The last 10 days before the exam: what to do and what to avoid

Read the following pointers to learn about what to do and what to avoid in the last 10 days before the exam:

What to do in the last 10 days

  1.  From Full Mocks to Analyzing Specific Weaknesses

In the last few days, doing 2 to 3 full-length mock tests of full length each day will result in mental exhaustion. What should be done is:

  • Take one full mock each day, exactly at the same time as your actual exam, to condition your body.

  • Allocate twice the time to analyzing the mock questions to see the reason why you made the mistake—whether it was due to lack of knowledge of concepts, misinterpretation of questions or time management skills.

  1.  Prioritizing High Yield Revision

  • Formulas and Speed Math: Allocate 30 minutes each day in the morning to revise multiplication tables, cubes and squares, fractions and percentages, and formulas in Mensuration and Arithmetic.

  • Reasoning Questions: Go through common tricks involved in questions on seating arrangement, syllogism, and input-output.

  • General / Banking Awareness: Revise your current affairs of the past 3 to 4 months for 1 to 2 hours each day without downloading any new PDFs.

  1. Keep an “error log”

Review your mock test questions that you were getting wrong or had trouble solving in the past. By reviewing old mistakes, you prevent yourself from repeating similar mistakes during your actual test.

  1. Optimize exam approach and question picking

The final 10 days of exam preparation should be devoted to finalizing your approach orders and which questions you should solve first

9such as simplification, inequalities, and cloze tests), and those tough time-consumers and DI sets that you may skip initially.

  1. Organise your logistics matters

Don’t get into last-minute hassles, and complete your documentation well before the exam date:

  • Get your admit card printed and verify the center location and reporting time.

  • Have your original identity proof and standard-size photograph handy along with some photocopies.

What to avoid in the last 10 days

  1. No new topics

It is not possible to master a new topic (such as probability and high-level coding/decoding) in the last few days of preparation. It would affect your confidence in other subjects that you have learned well. Concentrate on the skills you have learned.

  1. No peer comparison

There are numerous forums and discussions on Telegram, discussion platforms, and social media regarding high-level questions just a day before the exam. It is better to mute such discussions as they affect your concentration and focus towards your study plan.

  1. Don’t test too much in the final 2 days

Attempting an entire mock test on the day before the exam may not be a wise decision. You might lose all your confidence built up until then after getting a bad score or finding the test too hard to solve. Give your brain some rest in the last 24 to 48 hours, as light revision is more than enough.

  1. Don’t disrupt your sleeping & health patterns

Cramming at midnight or in the early hours of the last week may slow your response time during the test. Try to get 7-8 hours of sound sleep regularly at night.
