Reasons Deco Login Not Working
1. The "random drops" issue.
Most of the time, it's just one node acting strange. The easiest way to solve it? For about ten seconds, unplug that one Deco and then plug it back in. It works fine nine times out of ten. If not, open the Deco app and see if it says "offline." If it is, move it closer to the main unit for a short time to compel it to rejoin.
2. Devices that won't connect.
This one is really bothersome. Sometimes a laptop or phone just won't turn on. It seems like the Deco doesn't know which bands to use (2.4 or 5 GHz). To repair it quickly, turn WiFi off and on again on the device. If that doesn't work, restart the main Deco. I have discovered that turning off "Fast Roaming" in the app helps when some devices keep dropping.
3. Some rooms have slow speeds.
A classic mesh problem. Placement is generally the problem. The Deco node might be too far away, or a wall might be blocking the signal. Once I had one behind a TV, which was a bad idea. Put it out in the open, at waist or shoulder height, not on the floor. After moving, run the app's network optimization again. It really does help.
4. Can't connect smart home devices.
A lot of smart plugs and cameras only work with 2.4GHz. You can't choose a band directly with Deco. The trick is to move far enough away from the Deco that your phone's signal dips to 2.4. Then, set up the gadget. Stupid, but it works. If you're really in a bind, you may also turn off the 5GHz band via the app for a short time.
5. The app says it can't connect to the internet, but the modem is good.
This usually signifies that the primary Deco is in a bad mood. Restart the modem first, and then the main Deco. Power on the Deco after it is fully connected to the internet. Order is important.
How to Fix Deco Login not Working Issue?
1. Restart the main Deco, not just the satellites.
It may sound foolish, but believe me. If you merely restart the little side nodes, half the time the main unit is still performing something strange, and the problem comes back in 10 minutes. Unplug the main one, wait 30 seconds, and then plug it back in. If necessary, restart the satellites. Order is important.
2. If you're using Ethernet, check the backhaul.
I assumed my mesh was purely wireless, but no. One of my nodes was meant to be using Ethernet, but the connection was only half-dead. It seemed great, but as you moved it, it fell right away. Changed the cable, and bam, it's stable again. If your nodes are hardwired, make sure that every cable and port is working.
3. Update the software. Yes.
I hate it when people say "update the firmware" like it's magic, but Deco firmware updates really do fix a lot of connection problems. To update Deco, open the app and tap More > Update Deco. Mine had been running old firmware for months, but after I updated it, the odd dropouts disappeared.
4. Separate 2.4GHz and 5GHz
Deco groups everything together under one SSID by default. That's OK until your smart plugs and cameras won't connect. There is now a hidden option in the app (depending on your model) to split 2.4 and 5. If your smart devices are crashing, you should turn that on. It's a pain, but it works.
5. Placement is important.
The app does display you how strong the signal is, but it's not always right. I relocated one node about 6 feet, and all of a sudden the TV upstairs stopped buffering. The mesh hates walls, microwaves, and anything else. Don't think too much about it: line of sight means better.
6. If nothing else works, do a factory reset.
Last resort, although to be honest, it can be faster than troubleshooting. Press and hold the reset button on each unit until it flashes. Then, wipe the network and set it up again. I fought this for a long time, but when my nodes kept saying "disconnected" for no reason, the reset fixed it right away. Then, re-do the TP-Link Deco setup.
