Grand Theft Auto V feels very different once the keys stop getting in your way. Maybe the usual W, A, S, and D setup works fine for walking but feels clumsy during a fast turn or a sudden stop. That is common, especially if you prefer arrow keys or have extra mouse buttons within easy reach. Players browsing GTA 5 Accounts may also want a control layout that feels familiar from the first drive. A few small changes can make traffic runs, tight parking spots, and late-night trips near La Puerta much less awkward.
Start at the vehicle menu
Press Esc while you are in play, then move across to Settings. Open Key Bindings and scroll until you find Cars / Bikes / Boats. This is the section worth tackling first, since it covers the controls you will use most often. You will see accelerate, brake or reverse, steering, handbrake, bike sprint, and motorcycle lean actions. Do not rush through the whole list. Pick the one input that keeps catching you out, change it, then look at the next one. It is easier to build a layout around your own hands than to memorise a new set of keys.

Use both key slots wisely
Each action normally has a Primary and Secondary slot. That gives you room to keep an old key while testing a new one. For example, you could leave Space assigned to the handbrake and add a spare mouse button as well. It is a handy way to see what sticks without rebuilding everything at once. Watch for overlapping assignments, though. If one key is doing too many jobs, a calm drive can turn messy when you need to react quickly. Take a short spin after each set of changes, rather than waiting until a mission.
Check the other vehicle groups
Road controls are only part of the picture. Return to the main Key Bindings page if you fly often, then open Aircraft to review plane and helicopter inputs. The number pad is used heavily there, which may not suit every keyboard. Submersibles, parachuting, and online vehicle options are also listed separately. If a new layout does not feel right, Restore All Defaults is there at the bottom of the menu. That is often quicker than trying to remember every original assignment.
Give the setup a real test
Try your revised keys in a quiet area before relying on them during a chase or a difficult landing. Drive through a few corners, brake hard, reverse into a space, and use the handbrake once or twice. The best layout is not the one another player recommends; it is the one you can use without thinking. With GTA V Accounts and a comfortable key setup, getting behind the wheel can feel much more immediate and relaxed.
