Tara Returns to Dar

Dar first recognizes Tara through small details. He sees a woman with deep, dark eyes and long black hair. She carries a spear and watches him carefully. When she says her name, memories return to him.

She is Touargang. She is Tara.

As a child, Tara had been fascinated by Dar’s bond with animals. Sharak had always favored her, and Dar remembers how she once wished the eagle could teach her to fly. When she sees Dar again, she knows that the Beastmaster has truly returned.

But Tara’s tears are not only tears of reunion.

She tells Dar that the Touargang and the survivors of Emur are gone. The village had no warning. Flames came quickly, and the people could do little against the danger that followed. Tara did not see her parents die. She only heard the rush of wind and then saw everything become chaos.

This loss gives Tara a clear reason to stand against the invaders. She has lost much, but she does not allow grief to stop her. Instead, she continues forward with Dar.

A Touargang Warrior

Tara’s strength comes from more than her spear. She is a Touargang, raised close to the ways of the jungle. She understands tracking, movement, and the signs left behind by others.

When danger comes, Tara does not wait for Dar to decide every step. She watches the land, studies the path, and acts when she sees what must be done.

Her skills are especially important in the ruins of Nadeesh. When Dar is separated from the others, Tara takes charge of Jalan, Ruh, Kodo, Podo, and Sharak. She knows that Jalan does not have the tracking skills of her people, so she tells him to remain with the animals while she searches for Dar.

Her choice is difficult because she cares for both Dar and Jalan. Still, Tara understands that each person must do what they can. She sends Sharak with Jalan and the animals to find other defenders, while she returns toward Nadeesh alone.

This is one of the clearest moments of Tara’s courage. She does not know what she will find, but she refuses to leave Dar behind.

Tara’s Place Beside Dar

Tara’s connection with Dar is built on memory, trust, and shared purpose.

She remembers him from before the long years of his meditation. Dar remembers the child who watched him and his companions with wonder. When they meet again, both have changed, but their bond remains.

Tara understands that Dar’s path is tied to Ancor. She knows that he is the one in whom the fate of the world depends. Yet her concern for him is not only about destiny. She cannot bear the thought of losing him after finding him again.

This makes Tara’s role personal as well as important to the larger journey. She does not fight only because Dar is the Beastmaster. She fights because Ancor is her home, because her people are gone, and because the friends beside her still matter.

The Fight at Nadeesh

Near the end of the journey, Tara fights beside Jalan, Ruh, Kodo, and Podo while Dar faces Vorannos.

After the waters of the Fountain restore her strength, Tara leads the others toward the invaders. She tells Jalan to stay back, but he takes up a sturdy piece of wood. Tara picks up her spear and blade, while Ruh moves beside her.

Together, they use surprise to their advantage.

Tara strikes at the Pygmesians and tries to reach Dar. Zorena blocks her path, and the two warriors face one another. Tara continues to press forward even when the way is difficult.

Her role in this moment is not small. While Dar faces Vorannos, Tara helps keep the invaders from closing in. She stands between danger and those she cares for.

Tara and the Hope of Ancor

Tara’s story is one of loss, loyalty, and strength. She loses the Touargang and the survivors of Emur, yet she does not leave the fight. She joins Dar, Jalan, and the animal companions on the path toward the Fountain.

Her gifts are clear:
