Learn what is Compost Pit is and its Making Process
When a hole in the ground is filled with organic waste, such as leaves, leftovers, and garden waste, and left to decompose for a specific time, it is known as a compost pit. It's the easiest way of making organic compost from waste because it requires low maintenance. Without using chemical products, after the hole is filled with organic waste, it is covered with soil, and over time, the waste is transformed into a nutrient-rich material.
The process of making the Cospost pit
Firstly, collect the organic waste to fill the hole, ensuring that meat, dairy products and oily substances are not involved in the waste.
The second step is preparing the compost pit. Find a suitable place to dig a hole in an open area. Depth should be 30.5 to 38 cm, and width 20 to 25 cm.
The large size of the waste should be reduced to small pieces, which helps with faster composting. Next, the compost pit is covered with straw or twigs at the bottom, which allows for good aeration and drainage. Then, all the waste is added and covered with soil.
