Amtrak schedule changed my booking — how do you actually fix it?

Sharing this because I lost almost an hour trying to figure out what happened to my AMtrak Train ticket and maybe it helps someone else who runs into the same confusion.
Two days before departure, the time in my Amtrak app suddenly shifted by about 40 minutes. My confirmation email still showed the original schedule, and when I printed at the station kiosk it showed yet another departure. At that point I genuinely didn’t know which itinerary the conductor would see.
The help pages explain delays and cancellations, but they don’t really explain automatic reservation updates. If the system reissues your ticket, the visible details sometimes change without telling you why.
First I tried chat support. It answered general questions but once I mentioned fare difference and seat type, it looped back to FAQs. The station agent was helpful but said they can’t always override backend ticket changes — especially if the train number updates automatically.

The biggest takeaway: the app only shows the current itinerary, but support agents can see the entire history of changes. That matters if your seat disappears, price changes, or your departure shifts slightly.
