The NEET SS 2024 counselling process commenced on May 13, 2025, with the Round 1 registration process. The choice filling process began on May 14, 2025. There will be three rounds of counselling, and the entire process will conclude on July 7, 2025. The last date to register for Round 1 of NEET SS 2024 counselling is May 18, 2025. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced that the academic session for 2024 will commence on June 20, 2025.

The NEETSS 2024 result was declared on April 25, 2025. The NEET SS 2024 scorecard was available for download from May 2, 2025. NBEMS released the NEET SS 2024 cutoff along with the result for each group. The NEET SS 2024 exam was conducted on Saturday, March 29 and Sunday, March 30, 2025, in two slots each day, in exam centres across India.
The difficulty level of the exam was tough. According to the Shiksha poll, the majority of the candidates are expecting a score between 400 and 500. NBEMS introduced a sectional time duration for each of the three sections. To help candidates get accustomed to the new exam structure, the exam authorities released a NEET SS 2024 demo test.
Describing the NEET SS 2024 time-bound sections, NBE has stated, "The question paper for NEET-SS 2024 will be divided into three time-bound sections, namely Section A, B & C. Each section will have 50 questions and 50 minutes allotted for the section. Candidates would be restricted to proceed to the next section till completion of the allotted time of the previous section and candidates would not be allowed to review the questions/ modify the responses of a section after the completion of the allotted time of that section. Questions of the next section will start automatically after the completion of the allotted time of the previous section."
NEET SS is the postgraduate super-speciality medical entrance exam conducted in a computer-based mode for 2.5 hours of 150 minutes. There are 15 groups or super speciality subjects that are tested and candidates had to choose their question paper groups during the application process. The papers are scheduled in such a way that there is no clash of exam dates or slots.
What is NEET SS 2024?
NEET SS or National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Super Speciality Courses) is conducted by the National Board of Education for admission to various DM/ MCh and DNB courses. It is a qualifying-cum-ranking examination for admission to medical super speciality courses. According to the Indian Medical Council Act, 2016, no other entrance test is valid for admission to these courses. NEET SS is conducted annually in computer-based mode for a duration of two days and two slots.

NEET SS 2024 Counselling

The NEET SS 2024 counselling process is being conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) from May 13, 2025, onwards. The NEET SS counselling process is being conducted in an online mode wherein eligible candidates have to register, fill and lock choices, based on which they will be allotted seats. For Round 1, MCC has released the seat matrix, based on which candidates will have to fill choices between May 14, 2025, to May 18, 2025. There are 3,682 seats at the All India level and 196 seats at Tamil Nadu institutes. Hence, the total number of seats available in the first round of NEET SS 2024 counselling is 3,878.
Candidates will have to report to the allotted institutes and pay the admission fee to complete the process. They can also request for seat upgrade in case they are not satisfied with the initial offer. There are two to three rounds of NEET SS counselling, and the number of rounds may increase, based on the number of vacant seats.
NEET SS 2024 Result
The NEET SS 2024 result was announced on April 25, 2025, within a month of the conduct of the exam. The result for NEET SS 2024 was released in merit list format in PDF documents for 15 broad specialities on the official website of NBE. NEET SS 2024 result comprises the candidate's roll number and the total marks scored by him/her out of 600, along with the group-specific merit position or rank. Candidates have to visit the official website of NBE to check the result. These results will be handed over to the MCC, DGHS and MoHFW, the bodies responsible for NEET SS counselling. The scorecards will be available for download on May 2, 2025.

NEET SS 2024 Admit Card
Candidates who completed the application process within the given deadline specified by NBE were issued the NEET SS admit card on March 25, 2025, four days before the exam. The NEET SS 2024 admit card was uploaded online and candidates have to log in to the accounts created during the registration process to download it. The admit card contains personal details and crucial information such as exam date, timing, name of the centre and its address, and guidelines. Candidates could download the admit card for NEET SS 2024 till the last date of the exam. The NEET SS admit card 2024 acted as the hall ticket to the exam centre, without which candidates were not allowed to enter the exam hall. Candidates must preserve the NEET SS admit card 2024 till the counselling or the admission process, as it is an important document which is verified during the counselling process.
Candidates had to paste their latest passport-size photograph of minimum 35x45 mm with at least 75 per cent area on the photograph should be occupied with the face and head of the candidate. The photograph should be coloured and in white background.

NEET SS 2024 Pattern
NBE released the NEET SS 2024 exam pattern along with the information brochure. Candidates can find all the details regarding the pattern in the information brochure. NEET SS 2024 exam, a group-based exam will be held in a computer-based mode. The exam will be conducted in the morning and evening shifts. NEET SS question paper comprises 150 questions and the time duration is 2.5 hours. There will be a total of three sections in the paper carrying 50 questions each. The sectional time limit for each section is 50 minutes.
Each question carries four marks and for each wrong answer, there will be a negative marking of one mark for each wrong answer. The total marks of the NEET SS exam is 600.
NEET SS exam paper comprises questions from the general/basic components of the primary feeder broad speciality subject and from all sub-speciality/systems/components of that primary feeder broad speciality subjects.
NBEMS has announced the introduction of time-bound sections for NEET SS. NEET SS 2024 Application Form Process
The application process for NEET SS 2024 started with the release of the application form on February 4, 2025, and concluded on February 24, 2025. Candidates had to register first by providing basic details such as name, date of birth, Email, and mobile number to generate login credentials. Registration was mandatory to fill and submit the NEET SS application form. Candidates must have noted that NBE only accepted online application forms for the NEET SS exam. Offline and any other modes of applications were not accepted for the exam. To complete the application process for NEET SS 2024, candidates had to pay a non-refundable fee of INR 3,500, in online mode, through credit card, debit card, or internet banking. Incidentally, the application fee was reduced from last year, which was INR 4,250. Once the application process was complete, applicants had to save and print the NEET SS 2024 application confirmation. Only those candidates who completed the NEET SS application process are eligible for the NEET SS 2024 admit card. After completing the application process, NBE provides correction facilities twice wherein applicants can edit or make corrections in the information entered and files uploaded.

NEET SS 2024 For Foreign Nationals
Foreign nationals who wish to pursue a super speciality course from India need to appear for the NEET SS 2024 examination and clear it. Such candidates do not need to be registered with the MCI/ SMC, provided he/ she is duly registered with the appropriate authority in his/ her own country.
On securing a seat through NEET SS, the MCI may grant temporary registration to these candidates for the duration of the postdoctoral course. This registration will be temporary and will be limited to the medical college/ institution to which he/she is admitted.
The authorities have further notified that the prior eligibility criteria for admission to DM/MCh/DrNB courses shall be as per the Post Graduate Medical Education Regulations, 2023. NBE has stated, "Foreign Nationals including Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) cardholders can appear in NEET-SS 2024 without registration with the National Medical Commission (NMC). The NMC may, on payment of the prescribed fee for registration, grant temporary registration for the duration of the Post Doctoral course limited to the medical college/institution to which he/she is admitted for the time being exclusively for pursuing postdoctoral studies."
