The Truth About “Permanent” Eyeliner in Utah That No One Says Out Loud
The Truth About “Permanent” Eyeliner in Utah That No One Says Out Loud
Thinking about permanent eyeliner so you can ditch the daily smudge? Smart. But here’s what every Utah artist should tell you (and most don’t):
It’s never 100% permanent, and that’s on purpose.
In our intense sun and dry climate, even the best black pigment breaks down and softens to a charcoal or soft brown after 2–5 years. That’s actually ideal — it keeps you from waking up with harsh, tattooed racer-stripes when trends change or your face ages.
What goes wrong most often in Salt Lake City:
- Artists using body-tattoo black → migrates blue/gray and gets thicker over time.
- Top lid done too thick → looks like 90s pencil by year three.
- Bottom lash line overdone → constant “crying” look.
A properly done subtle lash enhancement or soft dusty wing should still look like makeup, not a tattoo, five years later.
If yours already migrated or thickened, we can lighten it with saline or laser without ruining your natural lids.
